Santa's Bag Contains Recycled Plastic

I bought a lot of Christmas gifts this year .

Yes, Eco-Gal engaged in conspicuous consumption. I’m a big fan of doing with less but I have to admit shopping is fun.

This year; however, I wanted to make a statement with my gifts so many of them were made out of recycled plastic. Adidas now has shoes made out of ocean plastic (Click here if you want to learn more) but I decided not to give Adidas my money. Instead, I bought toys at a local shop made out of recycled plastic and then I discovered Etsy. Wow!

In case you don’t know, Etsy is an e-commerce website focused on handmade or vintage items, as well as art and craft supplies. These items cover a wide range, including art, photography, clothing, jewelry, food, bath and beauty products, quilts, knick-knacks, and toys. When you shop with them you are giving your money to the little guy. People engaging in cottage industries. It does my heart good to send them my money.

Go there and type in recycled plastic. Prepare to be amazed. I’ll make it easy for you. Click here.

You can spend a lot of time and big bucks on Etsy. I saw an evening dress made out of recycled plastic that cost over $1,200.00. Perfect for you daughter’s first prom. Well, maybe not.

Look at some of the gifts I bought.

This bag is crocheted from plastic bags. You cut up the bags and create something called plarn (plastic yarn) then you crochet. Amazing!

This mallet is made of recycled plastic. It reminds me of melted crayons. My husband is the proud owner of this beauty. He’s real handy and can use it out in his workshop.

Here’s a purse I bought for my niece. Her twin sister is also getting one of these beauties.

There really is no place to throw out the garbage. We’ve got to learn to re-use the plastic that makes our lives so easy. Better yet, do without. Remember . . .

God is Green!
